Khula Aasmaan completes 5 years
It has been an eventful 5 years since “Khula Aasmaan (खुला आसमान)” was created. The very first Khula Aasmaan online drawing and painting competition was conducted for the period from October to December 2016. Not only the idea was new and original, the vision of this platform for creative expression found immediate resonance with children, young adults, parents and teachers. Everyone appreciated the unique offering by Khula Aasmaan which involved creating a dedicated web page each for all shortlisted child artists and young artists.
Pan India reach
We were able to connect with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds spanning cities and towns across the length and breadth of India. Khula Aasmaan soon evolved as a true pan India platform.
Birth of the idea
Khula Aasmaan (खुला आसमान) has been an idea backed by a long term vision. The idea was not borne overnight. Rather it evolved over the years. We have been conducting art workshops and exhibitions for children over the years. During this period, we had the opportunity to interact with several children, young adults, parents and teachers. These interactions reinforced our belief that there is a need to create a platform for creative expression and original ideas.
Journey so far on 5th anniversary
Ever since the first art contest was organised in October to December 2016, the art competition has been a regular feature without any break. Most of these have been online drawing and painting competitions for children and young adults. Some contests were conducted in physical format.
Apart from creating and managing the art contests, we have been creating art tutorial videos on a regular basis. See all videos.
5 years of Khula Aasmaan online drawing and painting competition
Each of the art contest declares a shortlist at the end of the first round of judging. The shortlisted artworks are then called for second round of judging to decide medals and honourable mentions. A dedicated web page is created for every shortlisted artist.
Apart from the regular art contests, Khula Aasmaan has created several special art contests. For some of these special contests, we have partnered with several prestigious organisations which includes Science Park of Savitribai Phule Pune University, IISER Pune, ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), Income Tax Department and many more.
As we celebrate the 5th anniversary, we reiterate our commitment to the original vision. While we will continue to grow and evolve, several new projects and initiatives are on the drawing board. “Khula Aasmaan Conversations” is already live. Under this initiative, we will arrange for personalities from diverse domains to talk to children, young adults, parents and teachers. Watch out for more announcements !
