Woman Reading, gold medal winner painting in Khula Aasmaan art contest
This painting depicts a woman reading a book in a reclining posture. It was awarded a gold medal in Khula Aasmaan art competition for July to September 2018. Ananya Aloke, 14 years, is from Navi Mumbai. Her education is by way of home schooling. She has been a regular participant in Khula Aasmaan painting contest. Ananya has been an earlier medal winner as well.

Painting description by Ananya
This artwork, which was selected for a gold medal, depicts a young blonde girl deeply immersed in reading. The clock on the wall and the light in her room and a somewhat darkened red hue over the horizon as visible through the windowpanes are clearly indicative of late evening. A rear perspective clearly adds a little suspense to the composition. Moreover, her reclining posture indicates that she is tired and the tilt of her head is a mark of the extent to which she is lost. What is it that she is reading, is anybody’s guess!
