Handcrafted in India
We will promote artisans, craftspersons, SHGs (self help groups), societies; who create handmade products and provide livelihood opportunities in rural, remote and tribal areas.
Covid-19 pandemic️ has caused massive disruptions which include
➡️ job losses,
➡️ loss of income,
️➡️ migration of workers from urban centres to villages.
⚠️ The future looks more uncertain than ever ⚠️
We felt the need to strengthen those who are creating something by hand thereby creating livelihood opportunities.
We created :
Handcrafted in India 🏽🇮🇳,
an initiative by Indiaart.com and Art India Foundation
We will build a repository of individual artisans and craftspersons, SHGs (self help groups), societies and NGOs who are active in rural, remote and tribal areas, with a focus on those who are creating employment or livelihood opportunities for their members and associates. This will be FREE service to the entities which get selected for listing.
All such entities will be listed in a special section in our website as well as blog. We will publish information about their work, their products and the kind of livelihood opportunities they are creating for those who are needy and marginalised. The information will include pictures, videos and audios about their creations and their work.
We will promote them and their offerings through our social media pages and any other means possible. Their contact details will be published with their listing so that buyers (private and government organisations), traders, exporters can get in touch with them. To be eligible for getting listed in our platform, the entity needs to have access to netbanking and ability to pack and despatch. Those who wish to send products abroad, will need to have the necessary IE (import-export) formalities done.
We will invite established and talented artists, product designers, fashion designers, craftspersons and anybody else to share their ideas, designs, training programs and any other resources which will help these entities in creating better products and market their creations. We will also invite people and organisations with experience in supply chain management to share their thoughts, insights and case studies on this platform so that these entities benefit from their experience and expertise.
The product categories covered under this initiative would be wide ranging and diverse. These would include masks, handwoven fabric, hand spun fabric, tailored clothes, knitted caps, scarves, stoles, sweaters, embroidered clothing, fabric painting, costume jewellery, papier mâché products, paper products, food products, bamboo furniture and other products and many more.
Indiaart will not get involved in any money transactions. This means that we will not buy or sell any of these products. Our focus will be on creating visibility for the listed entities and popularise their brands and their creations.
If you know of any SHG, society or any other entity which is working in rural, remote or tribal areas and is able to create livelihood opportunities for the needy artisans, craftspersons and others, please send the details to: email@example.com
We will also consciously promote entities which support creators who are specially abled or face unique challenges related to health or other social factors. We would encourage them to send us detailed information about themselves in English, Hindi and the native language of the region that they operate in.
Let us work together to empower those who create and support livelihoods.
Thank you for your time and interest. 🏽🏽
