Mukul Kumar (21 years) from Jamui, Bihar talks about his Manjusha painting titled “Marriage of Devi Sita (सीता ब्याह)”. This painting was shortlisted from Ramayana Art Contest (रामायण चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता) by Khula Aasman (खुला आसमान). Manjusha art (मंजूषा कला) is a folk art form from Bihar. Mukul has used 3 colours for his painting – red, green and yellow. Borders and snake motifs are its centre of attraction. The main characters of this painting are Devi Sita (देवी सीता), Shree Ram (श्री राम) , Raja Janak (राजा जनक), Raja Dashrath (राजा दशरथ) and Shesh Nag (शेषनाग).

Ramayana Art Project by Khula Aasmaan

This project by Khula Aasmaan (खुला आसमान)  involved an art competition on Ramayana. Children, young adults as well as people of all ages were invited to paint characters, incidents and landscapes from the epic Ramayana. This painting competition received a fantastic response. We are happy to have received beautiful artworks that have been shortlisted from this painting contest. 

We requested the shortlisted artists to record a short audio to talk about their artwork. We have received these audios. Happy to share these wonderful narrations by these talented artists about their art in the form of videos and audios.
