Art on Postcard on World Post Day

World Post day is observed each year on 9th October, which is the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was established in 1874 in Switzerland. It marked the start of the global communications revolution by introducing the ability to write letter to others all over the world. World Post Day started in 1969. Since then, countries all over the world take part in celebrations to highlight the importance of the postal service. In 1948, the UPU become an agency of the United Nations. Khula Aasmaan celebrates World Post Day with postcard art collection of medal winning artworks by children and young adults from Khula Aasmaan drawing and painting contests.

Khula Aasmaan introduced postcard as a convenient medium to draw and paint. This originally started to facilitate entries from children and young adults who lived in remote locations and had no or a very poor internet connection.
